Ashley S. Roman, MD, MPH has been a member of the faculty of the New York University School of Medicine since 2005. She is an assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. Roman is associate director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at New York University. She graduated from Princeton University in Princeton, N.J., and received her Doctor of Medicine and Master in Public Health from Tulane University in New Orleans. She went on to complete her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of California Center for Health Sciences in Los Angeles, and her fellowship training in maternal-fetal medicine at the New York University School of Medicine. Roman is widely published in the area of preterm birth, and has authored or co-authored more than 70 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals, abstracts and book chapters. Her research interests include the prediction and prevention of spontaneous preterm birth, and she has focused in recent years on the use of omega-3 fatty acids for preventing preterm birth. Roman has received multiple research and teaching awards. She was selected by her peers to be included in the “Best Doctors in America” database for 2007-2008. Her areas of specialty include preterm birth; preeclampsia; fetal diagnosis and therapy; and the management of complex maternal medical conditions in pregnancy, including lupus and maternal cardiac disorders.
